Animal cruelty and the feeling of being caged were the inspiration behind a surprisingly pretty, bright and fresh collection. Rose-tinted pastel shades covered midi dresses and floral prints, combined with burgundy, navy and royal blue the influence of 1930’s childrenswear was evident.
The ever-talented design duo juxtaposed high-tech materials and techniques alongside tactile velvets, suedes and wool. Oversized neoprene sprung to mind the enlargement of animals before human consumption. The theme was prominent in every look right down to the faux fur coats caged in wool criss-cross patterns.
GY Kimchoe wanted to created a ‘dark fairy-tale like’ collection ‘exploring the past and mixing it with an imaginative future’. And that they did, we cannot wait to see what is in store for next season.
