‘Why does the River Thames seem to reflect London and it’s heritage so well?’
This is the question Blood Brother propose and search answers for in their Autumn/Winter 17 collection.
With the Thames at the epicentre of London, it is difficult to ignore the incredible impact it has had on the making of the city that we know today. However, it is not only the Thames that has made London so iconic, the surrounding buildings that sit bankside draw people worldwide due to their beauty and heritage. Blood Brother has therefore also explored the cultures and subcultures involving the Thames, especially those of whom were somewhat depended on the river, such as mud larkers and ferrymen.
So how was this all translated into the physical collection? The mapping and cartography have been transformed into print and embroidery on the classic Blood Brother silhouettes, using materials including silks, waxed cotton and cords. The brand has explored tailoring, as well as bringing their classic oversized coats to the lineup.
In addition to the clothing, Blood Brother have introduced a 5 piece accessory collection consisting of a bags, hats, wallets, scarves and shoes; a further nod to the practicality of the London locals who were immersed with the Thames.
