While some say London fashion weeks are all about the underground, the new and the interesting – it’s always a pleasure to see what the classic British brand have to offer. Belstaff is one of those favourites, and this aw17 they did not disappoint.

Belstaff drew on their military heritage: the “Jolly Roger” naval and submariner inspired collection is both tribute and testament to the clothing worn by the British Royal Navy throughout WWII. It had to endure the harshest of conditions while at sea and it was whilst ocean sailing that the genesis of the four-pocket waxed cotton motorcycle jacket was born. It’s not enough that practicality reigns supreme in fashion, but for a wax jacket I think we can all make exceptions!

Classic maritime silhouettes such as the pea coat and duffle coat have been re-imagined in luxury wool, with this seasons focus on industrial tones of red, brown, blue and military green. The sea like set was impressive but satisfactorily sartorially distracting enough for even the most seasick amongst us.
