When The Winter Chrysanthemums Go
– Matsuo Basho

A British brand, Ashley Isham takes this seasons inspiration from Japanese poety and in particular, Matsuo Basho. The collection is exotic and romantic with stunning hand embroidery and intricate headpieces.

The rich colours are reminiscent of a winter evening, with sunset orange, deep blue, olive khaki and a luxurious gold as well as more muted colours such as mauves and burgundy’s.

Silhouettes were draped, pleated and ruched around the body in a whole range of silks and jersey materials. The tailoring is modern and fun with twisted fabrics such as wool.

The detailed patterns and colour combinations are what really stood out in this collection to me, Ashley Isham never fails to disappoint and each year the collections seem to build on what is now becoming the signature style.

Exploring the beauty looks up close backstage before the show, the make-up looks corresponded well with the colour palette as the gold lips created a gentle hint of playfulness which stood out against the clothes.

“Effortless, irresistible yet delicate. Powerful and provocative with understated elegance, sophistication along with an alluring hint of mystery”
