The Clio Peppiatt presentation was the perfect tonic after three full on days of shows and presentations. You walked into the space at the Painting Rooms and the mood was vibrant, fun and girly. Imagine a party taking place to the best 90s house remixes with the coolest gang of girlfriends (kudos to the casting team) you could ever imagine and that was the festive mood at the presentation.
The topic of conversation for this season was love in the millennium with the collection entitled ‘Love Rat’; a fun exploration of romance in the age of new technologies, specifically dating apps. Through in a dash of the eternal love story of Romeo and Juliet and you get the glittering concoction that was Peppiatts AW17 offering. It was very much a contemplation of the differences between true love and fleeting desire.
Femininity is very much the designers overriding theme but always in the context of modernity and this collection explored its theme in very much the same way. It is little wonder that the brand has garnered such a celebrity following with fans of the label including; Lena Dunham, Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner and Adwoa Aboah.
Garments were constructed from silks, fun furs and heavy weight denims in a variety of colour pallettes. Pieces that stood out to me where a red bomber jacket in silk embellished with patches and embroideries worn with a matching cropped wide leg trouser, a red and pink teddy fur jacket and my personal favourite a canary yellow fun fur coat.
It was all simply delicious and fun which has proven to be very much part of Peppiatts brand identity; ‘creating unique and positive clothes to make women feel happy, bold and fearless’. I personally was smitten with everything I saw and enjoyed myself massively. Here’s to the Peppiatt party never ending!
