What a lacy affair Emilio de la Morena brought to the London Fashion Week runway this season.
The London-based Spanish designer Emilio de la Morena showcased his Autumn/Winter 17 collection on the centre stage of London Fashion Week this season, and he gave us a whole lot of lace!
De la Morena works by modernising old craftsmanship techniques and has a focused interest in creating sculptural pieces. This season he creates dramatic cocktail dresses with puffball silhouettes, layering pleated lace in two block colours. Transparent lace gowns reveal colourful slip dresses underneath, glorifying the female figure. Dark sheer fabrics layer over bright oversized feathers and feathers are further used as trimmings and necklines; a spectacular attention to detail.
De la Morena aims to understand the female body through his designs; to create garments that beautifully fit and compliment them. He feels his clothing should embrace female empowerment, stating;
“She is first and foremost strong, modern and in control. She knows her own mind and is not afraid to stand out; nor is she scared of expressing herself in a vibrant and bold way.”
On the note of female empowerment, De la Morena designs incredible striped jacquard trouser suits in purple and grey tones. He ties the collection together with thick snuggly mohair coats; an Autumn/Winter staple…especially in this city!
We will leave you with a quote by Emilio de la Morena on the ‘Emilio de la Morena’ woman;
“Don’t mess with this woman; she will have you wrapped around her little finger in no time.”
