Velsvoir, the luxury menswear brand which consists of all designer brothers Zak, Talha and Zubair Velsvoir, showcased their Spring Summer 2018 collection in the Latin American restaurant MNKY HSE in Mayfair. The young business is located in London and Dubai but has shown it’s stylish strengths in GQ and Vogue Magazine.
The restaurant, bar and nightclub venue, MNKY HSE was an elegant touch for this bespoke collection. The models lined up by the entrance introducing the venue and leading passers-by straight to the bar. They stood in front of spotlight-lit reconstructed portrait paintings showing the likes of Superheroes and musicians in the place of nobility in these painted frames. The darkly lit room gave the old-school cigar-smoking men’s lounge vibes.
Model’s faces were painted also, by makeup artist Min Sandhu, who explained the theme for their faces was graffiti, the colourful drawings, doodles and letters scattered all over the model’s faces. In charge of hair was Louis Maharaj and his Toni and Guy team who opted for bold statement updos with tall quiffs, slicked back styles and sharp side cuts. Earth Boogie hosted the music for the event; the British duo Isaak Gray and Nicola Robinson made self-confessed ‘intergalactic, cosmic, tribal and terrestrial’ soundtrack making this collection specifically exclusive.
The sharp and slick-suited traditional collection complemented the funky twist of graffiti makeup. Bold statement pieces, from the multi grey tone Glen Check double-breasted suit and matching dark royal blue neckerchief and the shimmered azure blue two-piece suit with a fitting striking cyan blue waistcoat stood out from the rest. Jackets were the main attraction throughout the collection with a double-breasted velvet jacket in Oxford blue, an aqua blue patent leather longline coat and a simple striped house coat with a checked waistcoat and collarless white shirt.
