Taking advantage of the nostalgic characteristic of folk, The Ghibertins have fused contemporary influences to create its own soul. They’ve just announced new single ‘Where Are We Now’, which is set for release on September 11th via Mob Sound Records. But we have an exclusive premiere for you right here.
Formed in 2012, The Ghibertins are Alessio Hofmann, Alessandro Fogazzi and Lorenzo Rivabella. Although influenced by the likes of John Mayer, Mumford & Sons and Pearl Jam, they have forged their own unmistakeable sound.
Earlier this year, they recorded the 11-track album “The Less I Know The Better” at MOB Sound Studio. Experimenting with a fuller sound they retained the minimalist origins of their previous work. ‘Where Are We Now’ is the third single to be lifted from the album and features the band’s ability to put heart to paper. They turn feelings to notes and create something that is sombre, yet beautiful.
Tied together by an emotionally rich vocal, simple guitars are laid over evolving drums. The Ghibertins appeal for their sense of realness and their suburban “cool”. They aren’t hiding behind a smokescreen pretending to be something they’re not. This is their sound, this is their vibe.
