Enigmatic singer Sampson has announced the release of her debut single, ‘Shake The Fire’. Beautifully melancholic, ‘Shake The Fire’ is reminiscent of the likes of London Grammar and Lana Del Rey. The tracks creates an emotional landscape of delicate electronica.

Talking about the single Sampson says, “’Shake The Fire’ is about papa (my granddad). He was a huge supportive force in my music. I remember as a kid showing him my very first song and driving to music lessons listening to Edith Piaf. He was my best friend. His passing was really hard for my family because he was so invested in me and my siblings. Feeling grief was definitely a time when I came to understand mortality as more than just a word people use. I wrote ‘Shake The Fire’ while realising that we never really have full control of anything. Especially not time”.

‘Shake The Fire’ is taken from her upcoming debut album, which she notes is an intimate look at the depths of the human heart. Universal themes of loss, heartbreak, and despair are wrapped in lush soundscapes. Sampson’s haunting vocals are at the core.

Written alone in the dark and struggling with depression, the atmosphere that ensued allowed Sampson to channel emotional darkness from an even more vulnerable, honest place. Sampson reflects on a time in her life when she started to learn the brutal and beautiful truths about what it means to be human. Throughout the writing process, Sampson honed her own craft of mysterious and wistful pop. The resulting songs are raw, dynamic, and deeply affecting.
