The Norwegian designer, Edda Gimnes, is the winner of Spring/Summer 18 Merit Award, selected out of hundreds of applicants. Her new collection follows the designers’ trademark with a larger-than-life aesthetic and playing with the concept of past, old and forgotten objects. The SS18 collection was showcased with a lively and soulful presentation as the models were dancing and interacting with the audience. Patterns and illustrations were “drawn” on the clothing together with a mature colour palette of mustard, pastel pink, olive, light grey and blue. By using surface decoration on fabrics and layering, resulting in the creation of illustrations and depth in each single garment. The new collection displayed dresses in different lengths, two pieced suits and coats that were accompanied with bags, kneehigh shoes, and oversized hats all in the same creative design.
The designer got her SS18 inspiration from 1950s silhouettes, showing elements of feminine glamour, combined with aspects of sportswear.
