Chin Menswear Int’l shared the stage with designer label Danshan to showcase their Autumn/Winter 18 collection with the shared views of femininity in masculinity.
This season, Chin Menswear Int’l shared centre stage with menswear designer label Danshan to showcase their Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Both designer labels had similar inspirations and beliefs that drove their collections. These were the blurring lines between genders – how masculinity can be gently touched by the feminine hand, creating a balance in an otherwise unbalanced world where we look at gender (and the issues/conversations surrounding it) through rose-tinted glasses.
This Chin Menswear Int’l collection started at the roots of the designer and their Taiwanese heritage. Everywhere we go, not just in Taiwan alone, we see continuous clashes between social and cultural formalities, creating nothing but chaos in what they describe as an ‘unbalanced’ world. Here, they seek the harmony through their lineup where once more gender borders are broken and both worlds are able to infuse.
Where a few of collections this AW18 season work in a monotone palette, Chin Menswear Int’l unleash their lineup bursting with colour. Is this another nod to their promise of boundary-breaking? Prominent colours include delicious, bright lime green, varied shades of royal purple, bold blues, rich reds and base staples of browns, blacks and greys. The collection jumps out, not only through the colour but also through the fabrications and statement garments. A favourite of the lineup is the lime green trench coat – an innovative recreation of a traditional piece.
