Grammy nominated DJ and producer, Steve Aoki, released the official music video for single ‘All Night’ earlier this month, featuring Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui.
The video was directed by Mike Harris and entrances the viewer with a flashy vibe; one tempered by a very personal message of love and wanting. The collaboration binds both Aoki and Jauregui’s strengths in their genres. Jauregui breathes life into the club track. She elevates the melodies with a vulnerability rarely seen on the dance floor. It does however, still maintain the hook’s ear worm magic. The track also marks Aoki’s return from hip-hop stylings on his recent ‘Kolony’ LP, to the bright-light, electro-house roots of his forthcoming ‘Neon Future III’ album.
As a solo artist, AOKI has become a force of nature. I mean, how could anyone averaging over 250 tour dates per year not be known as such? With collaborations ranging from Snoop Dogg to Linkin Park, JJ Abrams to Migos and Louis Tomlinson, AOKI’s debut artist album was nominated for the Best Electronic/Dance album Grammy.
Most recently, ‘Just Hold On’, with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson became a global smash after the pair debuted the song with a performance on X Factor. Steve Aoki released his latest album, ‘Kolony’ in July via Dim Mak Records / Ultra Records and it marked his first full turn into rap music. After nearly 10 years of hip-hop collaborations, he described this as “bridging the gap” between genres. It’s stacked with hard-hitting rhymes from some of the most prominent lyricists today.
Meanwhile, Lauren Jauregui continues to find her footing as an unstoppable powerhouse talent. With an impassioned and inimitable voice that rings out far beyond the stage, Lauren officially stepped out with her first collaboration in 2016, teaming up with indie pop duo Marian Hill for the sexy and sultry ‘Back To Me’.
Her recent projects add to an already hugely-successful career with Fifth Harmony, a group that is no stranger to the top of the charts. Along the way, Lauren has always made the most of her growing status, urging change and social consciousness whenever possible. Following the 2016 election, the singer architected a poignant, and powerful open letter to Donald Trump supporters; she touted social justice and acknowledged her bisexuality for the first time in public. Igniting praise across media, and from critics and fans alike, Lauren possesses the power to become a change agent for this generation. And she’s on her way to doing so through music and activism.
