We recently saw the release of The Wombats’ new music video for their single, ‘Cheetah Tongue’. It’s tongue-in-cheek, and quite frankly we can’t get enough of the nostalgic vibe. Currently touring across the US, The Wombats will return to the UK for a sold-out tour through March; including a date at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Their new album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life’, is due for release February 9th via Kobalt Music Recordings.

Written from three corners of the globe, the album was supplemented by intense two-week in-person sessions in Oslo. Produced by Mark Crew and Catherine Marks, drummer Dan Haggis contributed from London, whilst bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen was nursing his new family in Oslo and Murph was in Los Angeles.

The new album finds The Wombats pushing the boundaries of alt-pop innovation with a lush, ultramodern indie soundscape. Think irrepressible hooks and tragi-comic lyricism belied by a newfound maturity and moving emotional depth. Speaking about ‘Cheetah Tongue’ the band said, “It’s a song about dealing with the pressures of adulthood and failing miserably. It’s also the opening song on the album and probably the most psychedelic”.
