Indie-pop band, RANN, are premiering their new EP Renegade Holiday today. With previous singles described as sexy and intense, ‘Renegade Holiday’ is due for release tomorrow.
RANN are a Brooklyn-based quartet that have garnered a fair amount of praise for their collage-genre combining indie rock, dream pop, psych and punk. Although the four members initially met while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, it wasn’t until they all moved to Brooklyn in 2014 that they decided to write music together and create the melting pot of influences that defines RANN.
During the winter of 2014, RANN isolated themselves in a cabin in upstate New York and wrote 12 songs; 9 of which would become the band’s debut album, Yellowgun. The record was officially released in November 2015 to acclaim from Vanyaland and The Deli NYC. This propelled the band onto the CMJ college radio charts, a number of SXSW showcases and two national tours.
During that second tour, RANN isolated themselves again. This time in a cabin in Yosemite Park, California, to write a new batch of songs that would later become ‘Renegade Holiday’. Speaking about the EP, they said, “A lot of inspiration came from the obvious natural beauty of the Yosemite park and all the traveling we did. However this record feels like home to us. These four songs have a strong connection to our life style in Brooklyn and represent a side of our art that allows us to be lighthearted and borderline silly. While still delivering a strong message. Oh, and yes, we’re beside ourselves and stoked with the way it sounds”.
The ‘Renegade Holiday’ EP is released tomorrow and available via iTunes.
