What is your creative process?
My mind never seems to turn off to my work – whether I’m on the bus or in the pub I’ll always be observing people in their jewellery and how they interact with their pieces. I guess this may be where I get a lot of my inspiration. During the design/creation process of a bespoke piece, often I find myself working around the chosen stones – I love to run with and develop the design throughout this process. All my pieces are made by hand in my workshop using traditional goldsmithing techniques which have been used for centuries, with a little help from current technology. I specialise in signet rings and engagement rings, it’s great to work closely with the client to create future heirlooms.
Do you have a signature style?
My work is minimalistic, nodding towards traditional design – executed with a modern aesthetic. You can’t go wrong with timeless classics like the signet ring, I hope that my style embraces these piece’s and highlights the beauty in them.
Do you have a favourite piece, why is it your favourite piece?
I’m not sure I can name a favourite – my taste and designs are always evolving which makes my job really exciting. I must admit it’s always hard to say goodbye to bespoke engagement rings. When working in conjunction with someone intending to propose you feel a connection with the piece and couple as you know it’s hopefully going to stay with them for a long time! It’s an honour to be involved in that process.
