One of Brighton’s brightest emerging beatmakers, El Train is making serious waves on both sides of the Atlantic. Just in time for summer, She featuring Barney Artist is his first new material of 2018. It’s immediately clear why he’s on the radar of some of the hottest DJs in the world including BBCR1 Xtra’s Mistajam, DJ Target, Jamz Supernova and Complexion Radio.
What is the inspiration behind your music?
Anything and everything really. I love to work on music whilst watching films with the sound turned off, there’s just something about the imagery that really helps me to get the creative juices flowing!
What is your creative process?
This can change every time I sit down to make music. Sometimes I’ll hear a song that will inspire me to start working, or I may just go through some samples and start from there and other times I will sit down with my guitar/keyboard and try and work out some nice chord progressions. From there it’s a case of just building up the track around the main elements, to a point where it feels like you don’t need to add anything else.
Who would you love to collaborate with?
This is such a hard question as there are so many people that I’d love to get into a studio with! Firstly if I was to choose any producer to work with I’d have to go with The Neptunes, just so I could sit in and see how they work in the studio. If I was able to work with any rapper at all, I’d have to go with Kendrick and finally a singer I’d love to collaborate with is Jessie Ware, her voice amazes me every time I hear it!
