Paul Costelloe brought complete ‘Joy’ to his SS19 runway show. One of my most anticipated shows of the season displayed smart tailored daytime jackets and summer evening gowns in an array of muted sweetshop tones. Costelloe’s signature elegance is amplified through flamboyant fishtail dresses and dancing voluminous layers, creating drama with each stilleto’d strut.

His delightful runway story begins with lightly printed day dresses with structured shoulders as he mixes traditional elegance with carefree sexiness. The décolletage is sensualised through wide and deep necklines and collarbone length gold earrings. Relaxed, quiffed hair pays homage to 80s nostalgia for an effortlessly chic look in celebration of the sexual revolution. Each model glided down the catwalk, exuding freedom and confidence in pointed boots paired with fishnet socks.

An unexpected sport-luxe theme arose through pastel coloured, form-hugging leotards, shielded with hip length blazers with extreme shoulder pads for the got-to summer work wear ensemble. Relaxed loungewear is glamourised through statement jewellery and sharp tailoring, creating an eye grabbing and beautifully unexpected ensemble.

Paul Costelloe predicts that SS19 will have the ultimate summer parties and his mini cocktail dresses are everything you need to make a show-stopping appearance. Oversized ruffles and abundant skirt layers are perfect for shimmying the summer evening away at sunset. Heavier prints are introduced in floral and tartan patterns and darker tones are softened through silky fabrics, emphasising ultimate femininity.
