Having spent 2018 amassing some influential fans and collaborating with the likes of Benny D and Boy George, singer songwriter Jamie Hannah is now preparing to release his breakout single ‘Sound of My Youth’. Written about a previous love, the track taps into the nostalgia and heartbreak that can live on regardless of how much time has elapsed.
With a laid back synth introduction and a paired down accompaniment, the track gives Jamie Hannah the perfect opportunity to showcase the extent of his vocal range as well as demonstrate his expert musicality. His passages sung in falsetto are as powerful as the moments in his lower register, and his understanding of dynamics give the track a great texture.
The lyrics, with their focus on the analogous use of water, sensitively capture the protagonists feeling of loss and pain in a refreshingly genuine way. They tell the age old narrative of a love that, for one reason or another, you just can’t seem to forget about.
With his collaborative track with Boy George dropping this summer, and the suggestion of additional musical offerings already in production, Jamie Hannah is set to make some waves with his breakout single ‘Sound of My Youth’. Check out the track premiere below.
