It looks like Shrimps are getting all grownup. Since it’s 2013 launch, designer Hannah Weiland, has developed a name for the brand championing the need for a fur free London Fashion Week by presenting faux fur outerwear in brilliant flashes of colour.
The A/W Ready to Wear collection includes a must have, big bird esq yellow faux fur coat, next to pieces such as a floor length cape in apricot faux fur with tie detailing and jackets illustrated with painting-like patterns. For her first foray into the LFW catwalk world, Weiland drifted lightly away from her norm and presented day-to-cocktails, dresses, skirts and “modern separates” including trousers and shirts with statement sleeves and collars. The inspiration? Grecian mythology including the statement “Goddess of London’s Fashion Week” Venus, Goddess of Love. The stark contrast between the interpretation of Venus by Shrimps and the rebellious Pam Hogg put the show firmly on the radar of fashion influencers and makes Shrimps most definitely a one to watch.
