Underage presented their spring summer 2020 collection during fashion week in London, set panorama created by set designer Lydia Chan, garments designed by Ying Shen, the collection was print and embroidery focused with deconstructed silhouettes.
Since their first collection in 2017 (S/S18), UNDERAGE is known for their rich, distinctive prints that define each collection, of course their Spring Summer 2020 collection is no exception, the collection is heavily detailed with motifs inspired by religious iconography and cult imagery and takes the form of digital, screen prints and ornate embroidery.
Warm and dark undertones (colour-tones) are heavily featured in the collection: red, black and grey, alone, together, styled with light colour tone clothing or colourful prints on top, undoubtedly matching the aesthetic of the brand. Of all the dark toned outfits, one of the most eye-catching outfits was a multi-coloured bright fiery print on black leather jacket and skirt, styled with see-through digital printed top and heels with “melted” effect, very bold and creative. With the majority of dark toned outfits, soft and light colours are also featured through the collection: beige, white and light beige with colourful textile details, one outfit even features neon yellow on the garment with other light tones, very beautiful.
The statement jewelry/accessories are also featured on the outfits of the collection: half framed glasses with beaded pearls of various sizes hanging, burlesque style pearl nipple pasties, long earrings, headpieces and “melted” heels (mentioned above), these are all very eye catching and creatively well made.
In short, the collection is very well designed and styled, beautiful colours with beautiful prints and embroideries.
